56 years of DUMCJ

The Department of Mass Communication and Journalism of the University of Dhaka will celebrate its 56th founding anniversary on Thursday, August 02.
Several programmes are being organized by the department to mark the day. The celebration will start with a festive rally with the participation of students, teachers, staffs and alumni members.
Honorable Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman will be present at the ceremony as the chief guest and the Dean of the Faculty of Social Science, Prof. Dr. Sadeka Halim is invited as the special guest.
The Department Day Lecture will be delivered by Prof. Serajul Islam Chowdhury and the programme will take place at Muzaffar Ahmed Chowdhury Auditorium of the Social Science building.
Three prestigious scholarships will also be awarded on the same stage in memory of Towhidul Anwar, Novera Deepita, Ali Haider and Tazin who were former teacher and students of the department. The programmed will be presided by the Chairperson of the department, Prof. Dr. Kaberi Gayen.
In 1962, the formal education in the sector of journalism started in Bangladesh with the inception of this department which was also one of the pioneering institutes in the context of South Asia.
