A.S.M. Asaduzzaman is an associate professor of Mass Communication and Journalism. He is currently teaching development journalism, international communication, and communication and information technology. Asaduzzaman earned his PhD degree in Media and Communication from Goldsmiths College, University of London, UK (Commonwealth Scholarship) and master’s degree in Media Studies from The New School University, New York, USA (Junior Fulbright Scholarship). He has another master’s degree and a bachelor degree in Mass Communication and Journalism from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. Dr. Asaduzzaman joined the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism at the University of Dhaka in 2002. Before joining DU, he worked as a lecturer in the Department of Journalism at the University of Chittagong for two years.

Area of interest

Dr. Asaduzzaman’s areas of research interest include sociology of media (traditional, new and social), ICT & development and global media & transnational communication. His work deals with the complex and nuanced interaction between media/communication technology and different social groups/communities, critical examination of ICT4D, ICT policy, globalization of media and its impacts on local culture and economy.
